Hold Anya is the inward face of the heavens — silver where Napisten is gold. She rules the slow cycles: a woman's blood, the rising of dough, the ripening of cheese, the turning of luck. Her work is not loud. She is consulted by night, in low voices, with the back of the hand to the candle so the flame does not flicker.

Ways of meeting
The Moon Bath — at full moon, bathe by candlelight only, then sit by an open window and let her light dry your skin. Speak to her of what you wish to bring to fullness.
New-moon petition: write a single wish on a slip of white paper, fold it three times, and tuck it beneath a silver object on the sill. Do not look at it again until the next new moon.
On the waning moon, write what you wish to be free of and burn it in a silver-coloured dish. Scatter the ash where running water will take it.

Leave spring water in a clear jar under the full moon from moonrise to dawn. Use sparingly: in tea for true dreams, on the brow before divination, in a final rinse for hair you wish to grow long.

On a full-moon night, breathe a question onto a small mirror, lay it face-up under the moon. At dawn, the first thing you see reflected when you lift it is part of the answer.
